Shopping for someone that is hard to buy for?? We know the type. In the hopes of ticking everyone off the list we turned to masters in the art of giving beautifully, Redcurrent. We catch-up with distribution center manger, Alex Ingle, about surviving the silly-season, how to avoid that last minute panic and sustainable gift wrapping alternatives.
With the help of local photographer Danelle Kendrick, we couldn't help but take a tour of the warehouse - where all the magic happens. With people at heart of the business, it was such a privilege to meet the distribution center team - We hope you enjoy getting a peek behind the scenes as much as we did!
Top tips for surviving the shopping season
I always try to buy presents throughout the year, so that when December rolls around, I've got everyone covered and don't need to worry about rushing around last minute!
When in doubt what to give?
Always a Redcurrent Gift Card. My friends and family are always very excited to receive one, as it means they can purchase that accessory, home ware piece or candle that they have been wanting.
And for our last minute panic purchases?
A Redcurrent Turkish Towels, perfect stocking fillers and so handy, and the new prints are so fun. You also can never go wrong with a beautifully scented Glasshouse, Ecoya or MOR candle or diffuser.
Top five gifting pieces
A Redcurrent Pashmina is a classic luxury gift that every woman will appreciate. As is a Kimono Dressing Gown. Our Lacquer Jewellery boxes are so beautifully simple and sleek, and a timeless classic that can be gifted to a friend, mother or auntie .. If you are unsure of someone's tastes, then a glass vase filled with fresh or faux flowers is the perfect gift for the botanical lover. And last but not least, I love gifting our glassware. I particularly like the metallic golds and iridescent colours in the collection they year.
Tips for gift wrapping
Use a fun, sustainable gift wrapping such as Furoshiki - the Japanese art of cloth wrapping. We offer Furoshiki gift wrapping instore using our Silk-Feel scarves or a Kiwiana tea towel, they make the perfect parcel wrap (and can be reused again) as a fashion accessory or regifted.
How to master the art of Dressing the Christmas tables, on a budget
Start with a simple white table cloth, then arrange your glassware, plates and cutlery. Forrage for greenery, to use as a centre piece whether it be freshly cut flowers or sprigs of rosemary in bundles. Then have fun adding brightly colored napkins and small Christmas decorations.
